01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

The crisp texture, savoury seafood aroma and generous bite of the seafood chijimi have stood out to diners. Asan offers chijimi with Chinese chives, seafood or beef tendon; the seafood version includes prawns, squid and scallops. Some à la carte dishes take around 20–30 minutes to cook, so ordering one at the start of the meal gives you something to look forward to alongside the other dishes.

For a little heat, consider the cheese dak galbi. One diner described how the spiciness built as they ate, enjoying the combination of chicken and soft, melted cheese. Jangja gimbap is another option alongside spicy dishes: this Korean-style seaweed roll contains jangja, and diners have praised its spicy, savoury flavour. A beer could round out the meal.

For a meal to share, there is samgyeopsal, as well as bulgogi hot pot with a choice of domestically sourced beef. Diners have been pleased with the pork in the samgyeopsal; one also enjoyed it with namul and kimchi. The bulgogi hot pot is available from 2 portions, with a choice of beef sirloin, beef cheek or beef tripe. Choose ramen or rice to finish, making it a good centrepiece for a shared meal.

At lunchtime, set meals include tofu stew and bibimbap. The tofu stew set comes with small side dishes, namul, chijimi and rice, with options to add clams, a raw egg or natto. The bibimbap set includes kimchi, chijimi and soup, making it an easy choice for a lunch that brings several dishes together.

The dining room has table seating, booth seats and counter seats by the kitchen, with options for solo diners and groups. Its understated atmosphere suits both a dinner centred on chijimi and a lunch set; choose the meal that matches your appetite.
